COOK DIES.

ACCIDENT ON STEAMER
COOK FALLS DOWN COMPANION
STEPS. 
SUCCUMBS TO HIS INJURIES.
Perth, Monday.
Just prior to the departure of the
steamer Koombana for Sydney on
Thursday last the second cook, William
Jones, fell down the fore companion
steps, sustaining concussion of the
brain. He was removed to the hospital 
but never regained consciousness,
succumbing to his injuries on Saturday
afternoon.


Whilst descending the fore companion steps,
William Jones, second cook on the steamer
Koombana, slipped and fell to the deck below,
a distance of about 10 feet.
